Factors of a number are the numbers that can be multiplyed together to get the product. The greatest common factor or the gcf is the greatest possible factor of your two or more given numbers.
Factors can be helpful in the real life when you are at the grocery store and you are trying to findif you can buy 5 cans of soup if the soup is $1.25 and you only have $5 ( the answer is no beacuse you only have $5 and the soup is $1.25 so 5 x 1.25 = $6.25
You would you use the gcf in real life if you had 30 pairs of shoes and 50 pairs of sockswhat is the greatest matching number of socks and shoes using all the shoes and all the socks

EXPONENTS and SCIENTIFIC NOTATION
6 to the 3rd power is not 6 times 3 it is 6 times 6 times 6 = 216.
For exponents all you do is see what the exponent is for my example it is 3 so all you would do is 6 times 6 times 6 you don't 6 times 3.
the 6 is called the base and the 3 is called the exponent.
You would use exponents if you had two or more of the same number of thing such as you had 2 pies and each pie had 6 pieces it would be 2 to the 6th power.
